BY AMANDA CARRICK// The Revivalists are an American rock band with origins in New Orleans, Louisiana who formed in 2007. Inspiring their music is the struggles of their past and the various experiences that all 8 of them —David Shaw [lead vocals, guitar], Zack Feinberg [guitar], Andrew Campanelli [drums], George Gekas [bass], Ed Williams [pedal steel guitar], Rob Ingraham [saxophone], Michael Girardot [keyboard, trumpet], and PJ Howard [drums, percussion]— have experienced. Through their music, the 8-member rock band delivers a troupe of anthems marked by moments of sonic complexity, celebration, and catharsis.
The group gained large-scale recognition in 2017 when their radio hit song, “Wish I Knew You,” peaked on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs Chart. This song became the band’s first chart topping song and gained success on a variety of rock radio stations as well as alternative stations. The song currently has over 100 million streams on Spotify and the band has over 1.5 million monthly listeners. Over the years, the group has continued to stand out to rock and alternative fans alike looking for a modern take on a classic sound as well as a variety of diverse melodies in the songs’ four-minute time spans. In 2017, they released their fourth album titled “Take Good Care,” an album featuring fourteen new tracks from the band. The band continues to reinvent their sound and integrate aspects of their New Orleans heritage into their songs. The Revivalists are playing at The Anthem on February 29 and tickets for General Admission are 51 dollars.
