WRGW MUSIC: MAKE SOME NOISE.
The backbone of WRGW’s creative programming, the station’s Music Department features dynamic and unpredictable weekly interviews, in-studio performances, and daily shows ranging from local punk showcases to Sunday morning jazz programs to a smattering of underground hip hop.
Over the years, we here at the WRGW Music Department have become particularly adept at masking our servitude to the corporate interests of Top 40 radio and major promotions companies, but who are we fooling; we love a well-formatted submission with a sexy RIYL. Send us your best stuff and we promise to give it at least a once over.
If you’re lucky, we miiiiight even feature you on our blog, that has quickly become GW’s premier outlet for music coverage. Publishing daily content that ranges from album reviews, show previews, and at-venue interviews, we’ve discovered that some of our DJs have serious literary talent.
We also run a preeeeeeetty sick open mic at Thomas Foolery in DuPont (come for the Captain Cookie, stay for your fav Guster cover). And starting in the spring of 2015, we began to book and fully produce concerts in the Marvin Center. With a focus on the local music scene, we also co-sponsor shows and events around town, including the annual Fall Gig and Spring Concert.
